Matt Hartwig has spent more than 20 years working at the intersection of public relations, public affairs and public policy.  

Before launching his own consulting company, Matt served as Senior Director, Media Relations and chief spokesperson for Emergent BioSolutions leading the pharmaceutical company’s crisis, external and investor communications. Prior to Emergent, Matt worked for financial services provider USAA helping manage the company’s brand, reputation and crisis communications activities including public relations initiatives for high-profile events including the Super Bowl, the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA and observances of solemn events such as Memorial Day. 

Matt has also supported global brands working for bp where he helped manage public affairs for the company’s alternative energy, downstream and labor relations segments.  

Earlier in his career, Matt worked as communication staff on several campaigns at the federal and state levels, for former Gov. Tom Vilsack in Iowa, and for former Sen. Tom Harkin on Capitol Hill.
